Eurasian Economic Union expects significant increase in agricultural output in 2023

This year, we expect a significant increase in agricultural output in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin told the media after a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Almaty, Kazakhstan on 3 February, BelTA has learned. «We considered the issues of food security and increasing the level of self-sufficiency across the main commodities.

This year, we expect an increase in agricultural output in U.S. dollar terms by more than 20% year-on-year. Now we fully meet the domestic demand for such goods.

We should actively develop the export mechanism, including within the framework of the Eurasian Agroexpress project. This project was launched less than a year, but it has transported almost 500,000 tonnes of cargo thanks to accelerated rail transportation, ,» Mikhail Mishustin said.
