Belarus harvests over 1.6m tonnes of grain
Belarus' harvest has reached 1,659,500 tonnes of grain, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry. As of 1 August, grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize, buckwheat and millet) were harvested from 20.4% of the planned area (435,800 hectares).
Harvesting was completed on 41.2% of the area (142,700 hectares) in Brest Oblast, 4.91% (17,800 hectares) in Vitebsk Oblast, 30.8% (106,900 hectares) in Gomel Oblast, 19.4% (59,200 hectares) in Grodno Oblast, 17.2% (77,300 hectares) in Minsk Oblast.
All in all, 1,659,500 tonnes of grain were threshed in Belarus, with the average yield at 38.1 centners per hectare. Winter barley was harvested from 58,700 hectares of land (98.5% of the designated area), with 300,400 tonnes threshed (the average yield is at 51.2 centners per hectare).
